Hemis & Thiksey - Living Monasteries

Alchi & Likir - Ancient Art

Diskit & Lamayuru - Mountain Monasteries

Do I need to be Buddhist to take this tour?▼
Not at all! This tour is for anyone interested in Buddhist philosophy, meditation, monastery architecture, or spiritual experiences. All faiths and beliefs are welcome.
Will we meet and interact with monks?▼
Yes! We arrange interactions with monks at several monasteries. At Sankar Monastery, you can have a one-on-one session. Please respect their schedules and meditation times.
What are dharma talks?▼
Evening sessions where a local teacher explains Buddhist concepts in simple terms - karma, mindfulness, the middle path. These are optional but enriching.
Can I participate in monastery prayers?▼
Visitors can observe morning prayers at Thiksey (6 AM). Some monasteries allow participation in certain rituals. Our guide will help you follow proper etiquette.
What is the dress code at monasteries?▼
Modest clothing covering shoulders and knees. Remove shoes before entering prayer halls. Avoid loud colors and revealing outfits out of respect.
Can I receive a blessing from a Lama?▼
If timing permits and the Lama is available, we try to arrange blessings. This cannot be guaranteed as senior Lamas have busy schedules.
